TS-Optics 2.5" Deluxe Focuser with Rack and Pinion Adjustment
The focuser is superior to conventional Crayford focusers. Drawtube bearing and adjustment are decoupled from each other. This allows for a stiffer support and yet a very sensitive adjustment even at maximum load.

Rack and pinion adjustment:
Coventional Crayford focusers use pressure. The weaker the pressure, the easier the motion, but also the higher the risk of slipping, as adjustment and bearing are coupled. This focuser is quite different:

The drawtube is permanently supported by ball bearings. The bearing is optimized in a way which results in maximum stiffness. The adjustment of the drawtube is achieved by a helical cut rack. The advantage is an absolutely jump-free adjustment.

Locking of the drawtube position was also optimized. No locking screw presses on the drawtube, insted the position of the adjusting machanism is locked. In this way, focus position can be held perfectly.
